When the site needs more than a standard lift
Plenty of waterfront properties do not suit an off-the-shelf lift. Clearance under a fixed dock can rule out a conventional cradle. Shallow canals limit how deep a cradle can drop. Existing structures can sit exactly where the pilings would want to go.
Those are the jobs we get called for. The answer is usually an elevator platform instead of a cradle, or new pilings driven to make a proper installation possible instead of forcing a lift into a space that will not take it.

Can you build a lift under a low fixed dock?
Usually — an elevator platform lifts the hull straight up on a much smaller vertical envelope than a cradle needs, which is what makes low-clearance installs possible. We measure the actual clearance at high water before committing to a design.
