Seawall construction, repair and replacement
The wall is holding your yard up. When it starts to go, the evidence shows up on the land side first — and the earlier we look behind it, the smaller the job stays.

Seawalls do not usually fail at the wall. They fail behind it. Water moves through a crack or a failed joint, carries backfill out with it on the tide, and leaves a void you cannot see. The lawn settles. A paver dips. A sinkhole opens near the shoreline. By the time a panel visibly leans, the soil that was supposed to be supporting it has been leaving for years.
That is why we sound the wall and look behind it before quoting anything. Sometimes the answer is a cap repair and some tiebacks. Sometimes it is a full replacement, and we will say so. What we will not do is quote a repair on a wall that needs replacing so the number looks better on the estimate.

Caught early, most seawalls are a repair. Left alone, the same wall becomes a replacement — and the yard behind it becomes part of the job.

Storm damage, impact damage, or a wall that has simply reached the end — assessed honestly, then repaired or replaced.
Read more →Seawall Replacement
When the wall has lost too much to be worth repairing, replacement is the cheaper decision — it just does not feel that way on the day.

A written, photographed assessment of what your wall is actually doing — before you buy the house, sell it, or find out the expensive way.

Not every shoreline needs a vertical wall. Some need the bank held, the energy taken out of the water, and the soil kept where it is.

Before you call.
How do I know if my seawall needs repair or replacement?
Look for visible cracks, leaning sections, soil erosion behind the wall, sinkholes near the shoreline or water seeping through. Any of these means it is time for an inspection. Caught early, many seawalls can be repaired rather than replaced — which is a materially different number.
How long does seawall permitting take?
Seawall permitting can involve county or municipal review plus state submerged-lands and, in some locations, federal review. Timing and construction scheduling are confirmed after the parcel and proposed scope are known.
What is a living seawall?
A living seawall uses textured panels that encourage oysters, barnacles and marine growth to colonise the face of the wall. That growth dissipates wave energy and supports water quality, so the wall does its structural job while working with the shoreline instead of against it. We install Kind Designs living seawalls.
