Stopping erosion before it takes the yard
An unprotected shoreline in Southwest Florida loses ground continuously — a little to every wake, more to every storm. The loss is slow enough to ignore until a tree goes in, or a pool deck starts to crack, and at that point the repair is landscape work as well as marine work.
New seawall construction stops that process and fixes a permanent property line at the water. It is also the moment to get drainage right, because a wall installed without adequate relief for groundwater becomes the next problem rather than the solution.
How we approach a new wall
Every wall is engineered to its own site — retained height, soil, exposure and what is behind it.
- Survey and soil assessment to establish retained height and loading
- Engineered drawings, sealed, with the full permit packet filed by us
- Panel system selected for exposure: vinyl, concrete or composite
- Tieback and deadman design sized to the wall, not to a default
- Drainage and filter fabric so groundwater leaves without taking soil
- Cap and finish detailed to tie into decks, docks and landscaping
Questions
Can you build a wall where there has never been one?
Yes, and it is often the cleaner job — no demolition, and the design is not constrained by somebody else's decisions. Permitting for a new structure is more involved than repair in kind, so allow for the 4–6 week window.
Will a new seawall affect my neighbors' shoreline?
It can, which is why tie-ins at the property line matter. A wall that ends abruptly at a neighbor's unprotected bank concentrates erosion right at the joint. We detail the ends properly and, where it makes sense, we will talk to the neighbor's contractor.
