Stabilize, document, repair

After a storm the priority is making sure nothing is going to fail further or hurt somebody — loose decking, a leaning piling, a lift hanging on damaged cable, live electrical near water.

When it is safe, take dated photographs before cleanup. Mariner can inspect the damaged structure and prepare a repair or replacement estimate; ask what supporting documentation is available for the assessment.

What we handle

  • Immediate stabilization of unsafe structures
  • Contractor assessment and repair or replacement estimate
  • Piling replacement and structural repair
  • Decking, framing and hardware replacement
  • Lift assessment: cables, motors, cradle alignment and electrical
  • Seawall damage and void repair behind the wall
  • Debris removal and site cleanup

Questions

Do you handle insurance claims after a storm?

Mariner does not interpret coverage or negotiate claims. We can inspect the structure and prepare a contractor estimate; ask what supporting documentation is available for the specific assessment.

My dock looks fine after the storm. Should I still have it checked?

Yes. Surge does its worst work where you cannot see it — scour around pilings, soil moved out from behind a seawall, connections loosened without visibly failing. The damage that shows up months later usually started during the storm.
