The signs worth acting on
Saltwater, humidity and UV accelerate wear on every part of a lift. The failures that cost the most are the ones that were visible for a season or two first.

Why electrical matters here
A meaningful share of the lift damage we are called to is electrical in origin. An improper install causes stray current and electrolysis that eats hardware from the inside, and the owner sees only the symptom — corroded parts that keep failing. We hold an electrical license, so we look at that rather than replacing the same bracket every two years.

How do I know if I need to repair or replace my boat lift?

Can you work with my boat still on the lift?
For most cable, motor and bunk work, yes. Structural repairs and full replacements need the boat off — we will tell you which you are facing before we start, not once the crew is on site.
How often should cables be replaced?
It depends on cycles, exposure and how well the drums and sheaves are maintained, so there is no single interval that is honest for every lift. What we can say is that cables show their condition well before they part, which is why they are checked on every VIP Service Club visit.
