When replacement is the honest answer
There is a point where money spent repairing a wall is money spent delaying a replacement. Widespread cracking, multiple leaning sections, tiebacks that have failed along the run, or panels that have rotated seaward all point the same direction.
We would rather tell you that at the estimate than take a repair fee for work that buys eighteen months. When we say a wall needs replacing, we will show you what we based it on.
What replacement involves
A replacement is a bigger job than an install because the old structure has to come out without taking the yard with it.
- Engineering, survey and the full county and state permit packet
- Careful removal of the existing wall and cap
- Temporary protection of the bank during the transition
- New panel system driven to design depth
- New tiebacks, deadmen and whalers
- Drainage, filter fabric and backfill compaction
- New cap, and restoration of decking, landscaping and dock connections
Questions
Can you replace a wall without disturbing my dock?
Often the dock connection has to be released and re-tied, but the structure itself can usually stay. We survey how the dock is tied into the wall before quoting, so that work is in the estimate rather than a surprise.
What happens to my landscaping?
Anything within the work zone comes out. We will be specific at estimate time about what has to go and what we restore, so you can decide what to move yourself and what to plan on replacing.
